KRAKOW DAYS 2018
KRAKOW’S DAYS it’s a tradition since 1936, held every year in June.
There are performances, concerts, picnics and exibitions beeing held during that time, which tell you the story of polish culture, tradition, habits and history.
“We can wear Chinese clothes, drive Czech cars, gawp at Japanese TVs or cook Spanish tomatoes and Norwegian salmon in German pans. But when it comes to culture, it’s only right and proper to have our own.”- by Andrzej Sapkowski
Most symbolic events are :
The Great Dragon Parade during which Kraków’s streets are filled with a colourful pageant of home-made dragons of all shapes and sizes, which make you feel like being in a fairytale.
The Lajkonik Parade is one of the most magnificent Cracovian traditions. Only then one can admire the dancing rider of a wooden horse, who is wearing a splendid Tatar costume and is surrounded by his attendants.
The Enthronement of the Fowler King is without any doubts one of Kraków’s earliest traditions which dates back around 600 years! During the celebration, the outgoing King hands over a silver cock , a symbol of the Fowler Brotherhood, to his successor, who is always beeing selected through a shooting competition. This ceremony makes you feel like going back to Middle Ages .
Casting the wreaths is a great feast for everybody who enjoys open air music festivals which on top of it end up with a breathtaking fireworks show.
You simply cannot miss it ! Come and enjoy the time with us Cracovians!
