PODGÓRZE
Podgórze is a district of Kraków which is located on the right bank of Vistula river.
It was an independent town with its own coat-of-arms, town hall and market square from its founding in 1784 to 1915, when it was incorporated into Kraków.
It used to be an industrial town, inhabited by entrepreneurs and craftspeople who were proud of their tradition and inventions.
During the second world war, Nazis set up Jewish ghetto in Podgórze, interfering with its fabric of society.
Podgorze of today is a patchwork of cafes & restaurants, museums & galleries which offer great opportunites for both citzens and tourists.
It has both amazing architecture and picturesque scenery. There are many quiet places where one can read a book, some routes to go for a bike, cozy restaurants to eat delicious lunch. Podgórze is a place where past meets present times in a way you enjoy it!
