TIME OF CHRISTMAS CRIBS

Visiting  Christmas cribs, beautifully exhibited in Krakow’s churches, is a very popular activity in January.

In the Christian tradition,  christmas crib is the special exhibition, particularly during the Christmas season, of art objects representing the birth of Jesus.

Christmas cribs  exhibit figures representing the infant Jesus, his mother, Mary, and her husband, Joseph. Other characters from the nativity story, such as  shepherds, sheep, and angels may be displayed near the crib in a barn .

Saint Francis of Assisi is credited with creating the first live Christmas crib in 1223 in order to cultivate the worship of Christ.

Nowadays we still do create Christmas Cribs and Krakow’s churches have them all!

Some are really big and  build with splendor whereas other are tiny  and modest but each one of them is equally worth visiting!

Therefore I announce January as the month of sightseeing  Christmas cribs!
