WAWEL’S CATHEDRAL TOWERS
Towers are imprinted in Krakow’s landscape and Wawel’s towers are one of them
Wawel Cathedral has 3 towers : The Sigismund Tower , The Clock Tower and The Silver Bells Tower .
The Sigismund Tower ( not visible in the picture) houses the Sigismund bell which weighs over 12 tones and is a very important symbol of Krakow , casted in XVI century and funded by our King Sigismund The Old . It tolls on the national or religious holidays.
The Clock Tower is the tallest tower out of 3 towers and has the most splendid baroque spire , according to a design by Kacper Bażanka, surrounded by 4 figures of saints.
The Silver Bells Tower hosts 4 medieval bells and also under the tower there is a crypt with a tomb of Marshall Józef Piłsudski.
Each tower has its own history which I could share with you during our sightseeing.
