THE LOST WAWEL
It is one of the most interesting, permanent exhibition on Wawel Hill, which was opened already in 1975.
It presents archaeological -architectural reserve which tells the story of the development of Wawel Hill from the Middle Ages to modern times. The exhibition encompasses the remains of the Renaissance Royal Kitchens, Royal Coach House ,the remnants of the Gothic castle, and the four-apsed Rotunda of SS. Felix and Adauctus from the end of X and beginning of XI c.
There are also several material traces of everyday life in the Middle Ages exhibited in the glass showcases in the former Royal Coach House.
Last but not least is the Tile room with the 16th–17th century tiles which come from ceramic heating stoves once found in the royal castle and the Wawel lapidarium -a collection of stone sculptures and architectural details unearthed over the past 100 years in the course of several archaeological excavations.
This exhibition is asbolutely worth visiting!
