SAINT NORBERT’S MONASTERY
The historic complex of monastery and church buildings is located on the riverbank in Krakow’s Zwierzyniec district.
Since the 12th century Sisters of St. Norbert’s order have lived in this fortified monastery on a rock upon the Vistula and ruled over vast and rich estates.
The vast complex of buildings, courtyards and fortifications together with the church of St. Augustine’s and St. John the Baptist’s acquired its present Baroque costume in the early 17th century whereas its classicist interiors date back to the 18th century.
This complex is absolutely worth visiting and it might be combined with taking part in one of the festivals “Procession of the Lajkonik” in June or “ Emaus” on every Easter Monday.
Enjoy!
